Mom's Baked Beans

As long as I can remember, my mom has made baked beans for every family BBQ, gathering, and party.  When I think of baked beans, I think of my mom.  These are even better if you make them the day before, and heat them up in the oven before serving.

Mom's Baked Beans

In large skillet, dice and fry 4 pieces of bacon.  Add one diced onion and cook until brown.
Mix in one large can pork and beans.
Add 3/4 C brown sugar and 1/2 C dark brown karo syrup.
Add 1 C ketchup, a dash of smoke, and a dash of salt and pepper.
Pour into 13 x 9 baking dish and add slices of uncooked bacon on top.
Bake at 325 degrees for 2 hours.

Have a beautiful weekend!

  1. I have similar memories of baked beans. But for me...it's all about Saturday supper with homemade brown bread. It seems as if that's what we had all through my childhood. Have a good weekend!

  2. This looks like an excellent recipe for baked beans. I like the idea of adding a "dash of smoke." I haven't done that before, but I will when I try this recipe! Thanks Lana!

  4. I've never made baked beans but this looks easy enough. I'd have to figure out where to buy liquid smoke though!

    1. All the grocery stores will have it. Look either in the spice aisle, or near the bbq sauces, etc.

    1. I don't have one at home right now, but I want to say 16oz. Not the regular size can (8oz), but the next size up. Sorry, hope that helps!
