My New Happy: Daniel Rainn Stitch Fix

Daniel Rainn Stitch Fix

After seeing so many of my fellow bloggers writing about their Stitch Fix , I decided to sign up and give it a try.  I figured it could go either way - poor fitting, expensive and not my style, or --- FUN!   I'm always up for trying something new, and thought this might get me to consider some pieces outside of my normal comfort zone.

My first fix arrived last Friday.  I have to say, just the way the clothes were packaged was appealing to me - all nicely wrapped in tissue.  Most of my online purchases come from Old Navy and Gap, where everything arrives in little plastic bags. Efficient, but not exactly pretty.

Of the five items I received, four went back.  I did remember to take a picture before I boxed them up!

The jeans were too big, and I already have a denim jacket very similar to this Mavi one. The orange top was AWFUL with my coloring.  The pendant necklace was nice, but a little expensive for something that I could only wear with a few things.

However, when I pulled out this Daniel Rainn blouse, it was love at first sight.  The colors and the print are so springy, and there are tiny iridescent dots on the overlay.  I think I could also style it with shorts and sandals, or a summer skirt.  Definitely a keeper!

Overall, I give Stitch Fix a 7 out of 10 for my first try.  It's fun to get a pretty package of new clothes chosen just for me, and it was very easy to return everything.  When I checked out, I was able to give my "stylist" feedback on why I was sending things back. I think I will try one more Stitch Fix next month before I decide whether to keep doing it or not.

Don't forget, there are only two more days left to sign up for the Summer Style Me Pretty Challenge at Get Your Pretty On.  Alison sent out a sneak peek of a few of the pieces she will be styling, and it's going to be fun!

  1. That is a great top!! It took me a couple of times to get it coordinated with my stylist about what I love! Be sure to leave comments and even send e mails to Stitch Fix. I have found that I love my Fixes more if there is a lot of communication!! Great first try! Susan

  22. I am also new to StitchFix. I received my 2nd box just a couple of weeks ago. My first box was more of a miss, and I also only kept 1 item (although I have been wishing I kept a 2nd item...so there is some regret there). The 2nd time around, my stylist did a better job, and I ended up keeping 3 of the 5 pieces. So I hope you have the same experience. What I love is that I tend to buy cheap clothes and plain clothes. I have a hard time picking out patterns to wear or clothes with interesting details. I can never pull the trigger. StitchFix is my 'splurge' that has been moving my wardrobe into a more sophisticated look with more feminine details. I find myself spending more than I would in a normal shopping trip, but the point for me is to elevate my clothes not to find Target prices for boutique looks. Hope you enjoy your next fix. The blouse is stunning!

    1. This is exactly how I feel about Stitch Fix. I usually buy everything on sale, so it's fun to look forward to a few splurge pieces. I know I'll have this top for a long time!

  23. You look lovely, so the "love it or leave it" maxim proves out! Good for you! I'm such a control freak I'm not sure I'd want other folks picking for me. And my budget varies quite a lot over the course of a year with fat seasons and thin ones. But I can imagine it might be really handy for busting oneself out of a rut, or a fun way to force a change. Glad you're having fun with it, 'cause it seems to be a good thing to add to your process!

    1. Thank you. It was fun to see what they picked out for me, and I never would have chosen this blouse for myself at the store.

  24. I see lots of people work with "stitch"... I looked at it and honestly did not see any advantages! Its not cheaper (I would say it more - because most of the time I combine coupons and get much better deals, free shipping and returns), I do not like the idea of somebody styling it for me... it takes half of the fun... Or maybe I just do not understand the idea?
