My New Happy: Apple Krunch

Apple Krunch

Last week I wrote about Washington Apples and how I still can't eat apple pie.  My family loves cooked apples though - so once a year I make this for them.  Add some vanilla ice cream and it's the perfect fall dessert (except for me - just give me a cupcake instead)!

Apple Krunch

6 apples, diced
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1/3 cup melted butter

Mix first three ingredients together and spread evenly into square baking pan, or individual ramekins.  For the topping, combine the sugar, cinnamon, flour, baking powder and salt, mixing well.  Beat egg slightly and mix with dry ingredients.  Cover apples with the topping and drizzle with melted butter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.  Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Earlier this week my friend Susan at the most -- of every moment shared her recipe for Apple Crisp in a jar.  Head over there to find her mason jar recipe and see how she turned them into the perfect housewarming gift!

Have a wonderful weekend!  We'll be working on refinishing our back deck, and hosting a birthday dinner.  T, my sister, and my nephew all had birthdays this week!

  4. Mmmm! I rarely like baked apples.. which is strange because I love them so much raw. Anyway, I'd eat this and love it! It's the crunch.

    1. I only eat apples raw - but if I did like them cooked, it would probably be something like this.

  8. Your family is fortunate to have such a self sacrificing wife and mama to make them something that makes you nauseous just smelling it! That birthday cake looks even more yummy though! I'm glad their birthday weekend was full of sunshine and touchdowns! Go Seahawks!
