Not a DVF Wrap Dress

faux wrap style

I think every woman who wears dresses should own a wrap dress.  Made popular by Diane von Furstenberg in the 1970's, the wrap style is universally flattering on any shape, hides many flaws, and is so comfortable.

Sadly, a DVF wrap dress has yet to be in my budget, but I was very excited to find this Leota dress on sale at a local boutique.  The matte jersey, fit and flare style is actually a faux-wrap - which actually works a bit better for those of us with a little more up top.

The horse print is a little bolder than I usually wear, but I thought it was fun.

Speaking of Ms. von Furstenberg, she has a new docu-series (is this what we're calling reality shows now?) on E! on Sunday nights called House of DVF.  The show features ten contestants competing for a once in a lifetime chance to work with the iconic designer as her Global Brand Ambassador. We're only two episodes in, and while it can't compete with my beloved Project Runway, it does offer an interesting glimpse into the world of fashion.

Do you own a wrap dress?  Are you watching House of DVF?

  1. I agree...wrap dresses are great on everyone and this one looks great on you.

I haven't heard of that program. We only watch TV online now. She seems like she has a big personality though.

    1. I like the idea of watching TV online - cable has gotten so expensive, we might be headed in that direction. The DVF show is really interesting!

  5. It is a pretty dress and looks good on you! Nope, I don't own one. Actually, I'm not sure. I have one that looks like a wrap at the top (before the waist, but doesn't go beyond the waist. Does that count?...like they only overlap at the top? Anyway, as for the tv show, I don't watch it. My husband already calls me a reality show junkie for watching the RHOC, RHOBH, The Kardashians, and Southern Charm (before) so I think I've reached my limit. LOL! (And I resent the junkie label, btw).

    1. I love reality shows, especially the housewives! Your dress sounds like a faux wrap, which definitely counts. Same flattering fit, and easier to wear, in my opinion!

  6. Sadly I own two dresses. 1. For weddings and 2. For funerals. I love this one and anything that "hides flaws" and is good for people with "a little more up top" are definitely right down my alley...may have to try it out!

  9. I really like the fun print of this wrap dress and that it's in muted colors so it's perfect for work. I do own a couple wrap dresses which I have a love / hate relationship with. Since I am small chested, I always need to wear a cami underneath and just does not look as cute.

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next Thursday.
