Mother's Day Randomness

Sadly,  I'll be missing my sweet mom this weekend.  I was born on Mother's Day forty something years ago, and since then we've spent every single one together.  Unfortunately, circumstances kept her from travelling this year. However, I'm very thankful that she's healthy and well, and I'll be seeing her in a few months. If I could just get her to figure out Skype....

In honor of Mother's Day this Sunday, I've gathered some random "mother" things to share!

--My vote for mother of the year goes to Toya Graham, the woman who found her son participating in the Baltimore riots, and yanked him out of the crowd to discipline him. Graham, a single mother of six, said "as soon as we made eye contact, he knew he was in trouble".  I love that she had the courage and the gumption to remove her child from a situation in which no good could come.

--Have you watched Leah Remini's reality show It's All Relative?  It's cheesy, but I think it's lighthearted and charming.  The breakout star is Leah's mom, Vicki.  She's wacky and hysterical, and it's worth watching just to see what will come out of her mouth next.

--Jay and Kateri Schwandt of western Michigan are expecting a new baby just in time for Mother's Day, and they can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl. They're kind of hoping for a girl, since they already have twelve sons!  And I thought two was a lot.

--Are you still looking for a gift for mom?  I love this Personalized Chevron Print Tote.

Or what about this beautiful Fresh Tangerine Heart Necklace?

Except it's probably too late to get either of those by Sunday.  Honestly, my favorite gifts for my mom are activities we can do together.  How about a gift certificate for a massage or a mani/pedi?  Take her out to dinner and a movie, or sign up for a wine and painting class. Memories make the best gifts.

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers in the world.  I hope you have a beautiful day surrounded by the people you love!

  8. you and your mum look fantastic - and I'm still recovering from the idea of 12 sons! Happy birthday and happy mothers day (my mum is away this year in Canada so she's on hold until the end of the month for her card and present!)

  9. I just read that Kateri Schwandt gave birth to her 13th son! See, being late to your blog isn't such a bad thing because I would have been wondering that all week!

    1. Oh dear, I saw that too. I can't even imagine 13 kids, much less 13 sons.
