Five Favorite Things About Summer

My son pointed out today that summer is half over.  Not possible!  But I looked at the calendar, and he's right.  Even though fall is my favorite season, I'm not ready to say goodbye to summer yet.  Here's why:

--Our annual beach vacation to the Oregon coast.  It's coming soon and I cannot wait.  Lazy days, nothing to do but nap and read, and yummy food.

--Sandals.  Next to fall boots, I love summer sandals.  There's nothing more comfy than a perfect pair of flip flops on a warm day.  Haute Look has some really cute ones on sale right now.

--Salads.  I wrote last week about how much we're enjoying salad night at my house, especially with all the fresh fruits and veggies available right now. Andrea at Living On Cloud Nine shared a recipe for Strawberry Spinach Salad on her blog this week, and I can't wait to try it.

--Warm, sunny weather.  There are two months during the year in which I am not cold.  July and August.  Thank God for July and August.

--The smell of suntan lotion.  It brings back so many great memories and makes me happy.  A few years ago I discovered Beach Body Lotion by Bobbi Brown, and it's my go to summer scent.  It's light and fresh and smells just like a day at the beach.

What's your favorite thing about summer?

  3. Summer always goes by too quickly. I feel like it just started! I agree with you that suntan lotion smells great, I though I was one of the only people who loved the way it smelled. :)

  4. Yay! Another thing in common. I adore the Fall. It's also my favorite season. However, I am getting rather alarmed at how fast summer is zooming by. Almost into August. How did that happen? I hope you are enjoying your holiday. And your mom? What a trooper.

How nice that you still have your Oregon vacation to look forward to though, Lana.

  8. Mm.. salads. In the summer, I want ice cream and salads a lot. In the winter, it's popcorn and soup. And all of those things all the time!
We still have three or four mini trips coming up, so there's that. And Scarlet is doing Lego camp!

  10. That strawberry spinach salad looks great! I love salads and will definitely try this one. What I love about summer are the long days. It gets hot here, so I appreciate that it stays lighter later so I can go for a nice walk in the evening when it's cooler outside. I also like summer rains. Not violent storms, but gentle rain. And the smell in the air after it rains. Ahhh!

  12. I am not a huge fan of summer because I am totally opposite of you. I am always hot, always! We need to change locations! It's hot as well hell here! We had our air go out for two days and I thought I was going to die! I'm getting caught up on my reading today I've had a lot going on and had to take a break for a little while.
