A Final Style Challenge

Another Style Challenge has come to an end, and I've decided that this will be my last one.

So many good things have come from the Challenges.  I met a group of amazing ladies, some of whom have become good friends.  Those friendships led to the formation of The Blended Blog, and I'm very proud of our collaboration so far.

I've been gently forced to step outside of my comfort zone, and try new trends. Never before would I have worn "really big pearls" with sneakers.  I was hesitant to try fringe, but I recently bought these booties, and I love them. During past style challenges I've discovered white pants, kimonos, and my now-favorite, leopard print.

But I think it's time for me to move on.  I know what my style is, and I have a whole closet of outfits waiting to be put together.

I'm not a fashion blogger.  I'm a blogger who happens to love fashion, and I enjoy sharing outfits each week.  But let's face it, I live in the Pacific Northwest, which isn't exactly the fashion capitol of anything.  I'm kind of all over the place when it comes to style, but in the end I just want to get dressed each day in something that makes me feel put together and pretty.

I've mentioned one of my style idols, Suzanne Carillo before.  Everything she wears is so beautiful and unique, and someday I want to dress just like her. Probably never going to happen, but it's good to have goals.  A few weeks ago, Suzanne responded to a comment I left on her blog, and mentioned that she had channeled me and worn an olive army vest, sweater and scarf.  "Yep, this is what Lana would wear", she wrote.  That simple comment made my day.

Maybe I do have a signature look after all.  So I'll keep working on that, and sharing it on my blog.  Because it makes me happy, and hopefully you all enjoy it too.

  1. Ha ha! Thanks for the shout-out Lana. : )

It is true you have a definite style and it comes from where you live. It is very much what I would call "North-West Coast Style". Casual, practical and a bit of chic thrown in there. That is the fun thing with blogging that I've discovered, you never know who you're going to inspire. It is great to see we inspire each other.

    bisous

  2. I absolutely love your style Lana, especially the stripy sweater. I have a similar one from J Crew and when I wear it I feel so young, like a teenager. It's a shame it's your last post from that series. Hopefully you'll find a way to showcase your style a bit more in the future:) xx Abby

  6. I like linking up to those themed linkups each week. They just give you a prompt and I put my interpretation on that prompt (example: chambray, fringe, boots, plaid, whatever). I rather do those than do an entire month-long challenge of head to toe looks someone else suggests. It doesn't seem realistic to me. If I totally adore an entire look, I can try to do it similarly head to toe from what Pinterest look I have been inspired by. I love Allison's blog but I have my own style too. Plus, Pinterest is filled with inspiration. I don't need to pay for a fashion challenge.

With that said, Lana, you have done so well on all of these challenges, while staying true to yourself. I adore your style and those three outfits on the collage are the proof that you are indeed VERY STYLISH my friend.

  7. You know me, I love your style and I love how you put the different things together to make a totally different look. You've made me step out of that box myself and be a little daring when I am choosing clothes. That being said, you are also a very talented writer and I can't wait to see more of that side again! Either way you know I love you!

  11. I have yet to try a style challenge but should. i like how you stated that you are a blogger with a love for style and fashion and not necessarily fashion blogger, I think that is me at time but several people claimed I was officially a fashion blogger and it just stuck haha!

  13. I think it's so refreshing when we step out of our comfort zones and try on something completely different. We surprise ourselves. What we think sometimes looks a bit naff or perhaps wouldn't suit us suddenly brings out this entire new side to us!
Well done - I personally think the big pearls look stunning the way you've worn them with your ensemble.

How can I follow you and keep in touch x

  17. Fun fall looks, and I happen to love your really big pearls and sneakers! ;) I am just trying my first ever style challenge via Instagram and it has been fun. Of course, I know it is way more open to interpretation than the challenges you are talking about. Looking forward to seeing your looks ahead, Lana! Thanks for linking up with Fabulous Friday!
