My New Happy: Whatever Is Lovely Part Six

Whatever Is Lovely Part Six

It's been a looooong week, and I've had it with the rain, my teeth, and brand new, malfunctioning computers.  And scholarship applications, grumpy teenagers, and did I mention rain?

However, it's Friday, so I'm putting it all behind me and joining the ever lovely Carrie to share some goodness.

-- I think I mentioned last month that my husband doesn't "believe" in Valentine's Day.  Yet every single year, a lovely bouquet of flowers arrives in my kitchen around the beginning of March.  Must be our own romantic holiday. I should come up with a name.

-- As soon as my shopping ban is over, I'm buying a pair of lace up flats.  I've been seeing them everywhere, and I think they're so lovely for spring.  I really like this Steve Madden pair, but I'm open to suggestions.

-- Speaking of shoes, I saw this lovely story on my local news channel.  A litter crew working along a busy freeway found 100 pairs of new shoes, still in the boxes.  Instead of pitching them, they did a little research and brought them to Mary's Place, a great Seattle organization that provides emergency help for homeless women and children.

-- Thanks to a recommendation from Lisa at The Sequinist, I've been using this Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial for a month.  I use it every three days, and it's so easy to apply and rinse off after a minute.  My skin has never felt so lovely, and I swear it looks brighter and less wrinkly.  I'm probably imagining that last part, but my skin does feel wonderful!

--St. Patrick's Day is next week, and while we're not Irish, we usually celebrate with corned beef and cabbage.  And this year I will also be making these delicious looking Little Irish Girl cookies, thanks to the lovely Andrea.  Not only are they so pretty, but the recipe includes Bailey's Coffee Creamer for some minty goodness.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  1. I've been eyeing those shoes too. I'm not a fan of tying things on my ankles but I might relent. Thanks for the tip on the skincare product. Thanks for posting with me.

  4. I actually got the exact same laceups only in black, and I absolutely love them! OK I gotta admit, they are little tough to get on at first but then they are super comfortable! Big Thank you for featuring my little Irish girl cookies! I am making another batch this weekend myself! May have to hide them so I don't eat too many, LOL! I hope you have a wonderful weekend beautiful!!

  7. I love your "whatever is lovely" posts, Lana! Hang in there with the rain, teeth, etc ... it will get better :) Your flowers are gorgeous - and I love how the placemat under them mirrors the colors in the bouquet.

  8. I tried on some lace up flats almost exactly like that this morning. I can't wear them though. Too flat. Yes, I'm cursed, I can't wear shoes that are too flat or too tall. Basically I'm Goldilocks looking for shoes.

Good for you on the teeth! Patience little grasshopper : ) Things will get better and the rain will go away. Well, maybe not but there might be a rainbow at some point, right?

    bisous

  12. I would kill myself trying to wear those sandals haha! I need shoes that keep me flat on the ground. My husband is full Irish. His name is even Patrick and you know my last name and he is born on St. Patrick's Day. I am thrilled to tell you that my cousin is going to take care of mom for 4 whole days and I've rented us a cabin in the Smoky Mountains. I couldn't be more excited. I have only had one night without her since before my brother died.

  14. Aww, how sweet of your husband to send you some flowers in March! I am looking for a pair of lace up sandals, too. I am wondering if I can find a pair that is open toed, too, now that it is warming up... I feel you about the teeth! I am 2 days away from putting in tray 4 of 15, so I am 1/3 done with the first round almost!!
