Spring Plaid & Shop My Closet Week 17

Style Perspectives - how would you wear it? twoteensandtheirmama.com

It's Wednesday and time for another round of Style Perspectives with the ladies of The Blended Blog.  I think last week's graphic tee prompt was my favorite so far - I want them all!  Thanks to everyone who linked up with us and joined in the fun.

Style Perspectives - how would you wear it? twoteensandtheirmama.com

This week we're styling a plaid look, courtesy of Alison.  I got to meet Alison in Vegas a few weeks ago, and she's so much fun.  She taught us how to recreate her signature outfit "pose". Which I tried to do once I got home...and failed. Maybe I'll have better luck next week.  Be sure to head to The Blended Blog to see her plaid look, and find out who had the top clicked links from last week.

I was stumped when trying to decide what to wear for this prompt.  Since I'm "shopping my closet", I had already worn my plaid shirts.  And yes, there are many.  The plaid scarves were all too heavy and winter-y. And then I remembered gingham, which is a type of checkered plaid, although its symmetry and single color sets it apart.  See, I was paying attention in my fabrics class in college!  Or I googled it.  Anyway.

I chose this blue gingham top and paired it with one of my favorite 7 for all mankind jeans. I love the fit and comfort of their jeans. Find the style you prefer, and then keep an eye out on Hautelook, where they regularly carry them for at least half off.  Because nobody should ever pay retail for jeans.  Ever.

  4. Wonder why we all read plaid as winter wear? I did the same thing! But shopped my closet (like a good girl that I know) and found that I even had a springy plaid of my own. Love the idea that gingham is cousins with plaid and totally translates into a possibility for this prompt. Your four closet looks are darling. Have you bought anything new this year? You are so inspiring!

    1. I know, I was totally stumped on plaid, because it felt so winter to me. I've only bought a few things, and I've been very intentional about it. But with all the pretty spring things, I'm feeling the itch!

  7. I was tempted by this exact colour of gingham in a cardigan while shopping for groceries on Monday. I wish they never brought Joe Fresh into our grocery stores. It is just another temptation I need to avoid.

I love this colour on you.

  11. I love your gingham shirt Lana, and I think we may have the same black flats. Super comfy, right?! It has been a year since my closet overhaul, and it has been way better, but I still feel like there is too much of the wrong stuff in there!

  20. I feel like a lot of us went for plaid alternatives this week to be more spring-like! By the way, do you know the technical difference between buffalo plaid and gingham? Just curious. Haha.
