New Year Styled: Flannel Dress

In my quest for a better me by 50, I'm evaluating every area of my life, including the clothes I buy and the outfits I wear.  I'm not sure that I project a specific style, unless "Pacific Northwest Work From Home Casual Mom" has suddenly become all the rage.  Doubtful.

Looking back through outfit photos taken the past two years, I often wonder if I'm dressing "appropriately" for my age. Which is strange, because on others, I feel that fashion shouldn't have rules.  Wear what makes you feel good, and who cares what anyone else thinks.  Clothes have always been a fun outlet for me.  What I put on isn't that exciting, or unique, or cutting edge, but it's me.  And ultimately, I still feel young at heart.  So to hell with 50 - I'm wearing what I want.

However, if you see me in a plunging to the navel neckline or short shorts, you will know that things have gone terribly awry in my closet, and I'd appreciate an intervention asap.

On to the first outfit of 2017!  Due to an overabundance of cookie eating and lack of exercise routine over the holidays, I've been enjoying my Hue leggings.  A lot.  But it's also been very cold, so warm layers are a must.

I found this soft flannel shirt dress at Target, and paired with my ever faithful baby blardigan, it's the perfect January outfit.  Not unique or exciting, but very me.

I hope you'll link up with us below, and follow along on Instagram with #theblendedblogstyle.

I think you'll totally redefine what "dressing your age" means. I do that! Many of my peers have cut their hair by now, and I just grow mine more and wear leggings every day. Whee!

  6. Lana, I agree that everyone should wear what they want to wear... age shouldn't matter. I wouldn't wear sleazy but I will never wear old fashioned dull items... I think you look cute xox

  9. hue leggings and loose layers are my go-to right now... based on WAY too much over-indulging... I wish I could blame it just on the holidays but sadly it's been going on much longer than that
