Shop My Closet Week 5
One month down - how many more to go? I honestly don't see an end in sight, and I didn't spend one dollar on clothes during January.
I did have to go to the mall once, and I'm obviously in a dressing room in the first picture. However, I only stopped in to use the mirror. I'll admit to a bit of browsing on the way out, since I was in my very favorite store. But it has become easier to resist impulse purchases, and I left with nothing.
Apparently I was feeling a lot of gray and pink this week. It's funny when I put these collages together and start to see a pattern.
This outfit is a perfect example of why I'm challenging myself to wear everything in my closet. Both the black jacket and the lilac sweater had never been on my body, and I've had them for months. The Caslon jacket has knit gray sleeves and was the perfect weight over the soft cowl neck sweater.
In the spirit of working on my creativity, I'd like to walk into my closet and put some outfits together that I hadn't thought of before. But how?
Audrey at Putting Me Together shared a post recently with Tips For Utilizing Your Wardrobe that I found very helpful. She suggested planning outfits for the week by listing each day, what you'll be doing, and the weather. She also wrote about using Pinterest, and finding a style "go to" formula. Which for me is jeans, a sweater, and boots.
Or.... I could just follow along with my friend Carrie at A Lovely Little Wardrobe for her Create 28 Series, where she's giving an outfit prompt for each day in February. Carrie asked me to share a look for the series later in the month, and I'm excited to show you what I come up with.
Until next week - happy "no shopping"!

I should do this no shopping thing. I have so much in my closet with tags on them. And shoes I've never worn.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I started. I can't believe how many things I own with tags.
DeleteYou must have a very big closet, lady! Pink really suits you (I'm jealous, it just looks wrong on me) so I can see why you have a theme there. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! My closet isn't very big, but I've packed a lot in there!
DeletePink and grey is such a pretty combo and I'm loving all of these looks! My favorite is the poncho layered over the burgundy top! Have a great day!

Doused In Pink
I didn't realize how much pink/gray I had in my closet. Guess it's a favorite of mine too!
DeleteLove all these outfits but mostly that one that got a spotlight because it hasn't been worn. I have a pair of pants that I used to wear tons but haven't in a long time....I'm thinking they need a chance in the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteYep, bring them out!
DeleteNow you've got me wondering...what is your favourite store?
ReplyDeleteI adore pink and grey together.
Kudos to you on the no shopping. You a stronger woman than I!
bisous
Suzanne
It's actually getting easier as I go along. Kind of like not eating sugar - haha!
DeleteLooking great Lana!! You're getting so good at this girl, I specially love The pink and gingham and the poncho! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea!
DeleteI wish I could do better with spending freeze and only wear things out of my closet! But wait! Now that I think about it, I think I've only bought ONE thing myself for Christmas. I have been kinda telling myself "no new clothes till Spring." Maybe I'm doing better than I think I am. Sorry for rambling. You look great!
ReplyDeleteSee, you're doing it! I'm not sure how I'll do when all the pretty new spring stuff starts hitting stores.
DeleteI had a trip planned that got cancelled, but it made me put together outfits that I left together in my closet that I am wearing. I am sorting through items that need to go to the charity shops. I love pink and gray together and the pink touches!!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to give things away as I wear them, if I don't really love them. I probably should get rid of some pink and gray!
DeleteGirl...I think you actually have more clothes than me! Another week of cute looks. :-)
ReplyDeleteNot possible :)! Thank you!
DeleteGood for you! I bet your husband is totally on board with this project too!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure he's noticed :)!
DeleteI love the poncho with the boots Lana ... and do I see a little glimpse of bare skin of your feet and ankles? We are still covering ours heavily here with boots and socks. . .
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun series - and it's inspiring me to put a little more thought and variety into my outfits!
It's actually been pretty mild for Jan/Feb. But if it's raining, no skin!
DeleteGreat looks!!!

Thanks Jaymie!
DeletePink shades are just perfect on you, friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carrie!
DeletePink is a great color for you. I love it too. These days I'm stuck in a fashion rut of easy things I don't have to think about. I really need to clean out my closet!
ReplyDeleteI was wearing the same thing over and over, even though I had a closet full of things. This is forcing me to figure out what I really like!
DeleteI remember seeing that great gray and pink sweater somewhere and loving it. These looks are all lovely and so YOU!
ReplyDeleteIt came from our favorite store - LOFT! Thank you Leslie!
DeleteI love pink and gray together. So sophisticated looking. Thanks for joining us on My Refined Style.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Jennifer

Europe Renewable Energy Market - Renewable Energy in Europe presents an overview of the latest political, technological, financial and economic information on renewable energy technologies in the fields of heating and cooling, electricity and biofuels for transport. The book provides insights and gives ideas about how to best reach the binding 2020 target of at least 20 per cent renewable energy from final energy consumption, as outlined in the Directive on the promotion of the use of energy from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) that came into force in 2009. If properly implemented, this Directive will become the most ambitious piece of legislation on renewable energy in the world.
