Style Perspectives: A Graduation Look

It's Wednesday and time for another round of Style Perspectives with my friends from The Blended Blog.  I loved all the blazer looks from last week. Thanks to everyone who linked up with us and joined in the fun!

Up this week is a graduation look, chosen by Sheila.  I've had this dress picked out for awhile, since my baby will be graduating from high school in a month, and I'm going to need something pretty to make it through the day.  Is it possible to be bursting with pride and heartbroken at the same time?  I'll let you know.

I took this Ellen Tracy dress to Vegas with me last month.  I love the bright, Monet-like print, it's stretchy and super comfortable, and it has pockets. Anything with pockets is a win.

I thought it would be fun to share a picture of what I actually wore to my own graduation, back in 1985.  However, this is all I could find.  Photography was not my parent's strong suit. Underneath this lovely blue gown is an equally charming white, long sleeved, high necked dress. Apparently I was headed to a convent when school was over.

Be sure to stop by The Blended Blog to see Sheila's graduation look, and find out who had the top clicked links from last week.

  1. Love how this dress smiles happy with the pretty colors although trust me, I know you are an emotional wreck like me!! You look darling, such a pretty mama!!

  2. Your printed dress is so pretty and the yellow cardi is the perfect layering piece! You look gorgeous! So fun seeing your throwback photo!

  3. Such a pretty dress. I love it belted. My oldest graduates next year from high school so let me know how you do! I'm scared out of my mind!!

  4. The throwback pic made my day! You pretty thing you!
You know how I feel about this dress on you, perfection! It looks amazing

  5. I've seen you in that dress! yay! I love the colour palette on it too and it does remind me of Monet. Now I miss you more. Sigh.

  6. So fun to see you even with the dodgy photography from back when DLSRs didn't exist : )

    Love the dress on you!

  7. You are so pretty in that dress! Love the pattern and the colors. And I'll cry right along with you when your son graduates...sniff, sniff... Darn I should have posted a picture of what I wore to graduation too. I think it was a white dress..because our gowns were white and see through..

  8. I love that dress on you Lana. Great choice.

  9. I wish I would have thought to add a throwback picture in there. But this dress is stunning on you! Perfect for your son's graduation :)

  10. Your comment about the convent made me chuckle - oh, the 80's style. You look great in that graduation day look!

  11. Very pretty dress and great graduation look!

  12. I absolutely love your dress - and the yellow cardigan. This theme is helpful this week, as I have yet to decide what to wear for my son's graduation. (A lot depends on the weather that day!) I graduated from a small American high school in Spain - we wore long dresses instead of caps and gowns. My mom made mine, and I loved it - although it covered a lot of skin by today's standards! ;0

  13. The dress is fantastic! Totally eye-catching! Wonderful for a day in which you may need a lot of tissues and/or deep breaths.

  14. Glad you were detoured from the convent! Good gravy, that dress and cardi combo are so YOU!! Truly perfect. Happy, feminine, uplifting. Love this on you. I can see all of that 21 Day Fix workout and now the healthier eating paying off on you. Look at that waist! Wow!

  15. This one is my fave look this week! Love the color combo and the patterns on your dress. Beautiful!

  16. You look so pretty!! I love the flashback photo!

  17. Yes, that is such a pretty dress and perfect on you. And yes, you can be proud and broken-hearted at the same time. I completely understand.

  18. Congrats to your son for graduating soon. You will look so pretty in the beautiful blue dress. I love it with the yellow cardigan and I love that it has pockets. Also, that flashback graduation photo is awesome.

I am talking pretty dresses and skirts for Spring, in today's post too. Come check it out. =) I gave you ladies of The Blended Blog a special shout-out and even featured some of you. ;-)

And I would love for you to linkup with me tomorrow and share your latest style posts with my readers. Thanks, Ada. =)

  19. Love this dress!! a Perfect look! Loved your throwback pic too! Great idea!!

  20. Such a pretty dress! And even better that it has pockets and is comfortable!

And, yes, graduations are definitely bittersweet...

  21. I didn't realize that was your graduation dress! You look great in it! Don't forget the red lipstick! ;-) What day is your graduation? I'll be thinking of you!

  22. I don't have any graduations to go to this year, but this dress is def. perfect! I love how colorful it is and the blue/yellows together! Hope you hold it together during graduation! I know I'll be a mess... I am a mess just at the start of each new school year!

  23. I love your pick for grad. It's fancy but not too fancy. Trendy but classic cut. The cardigan is perfect for a warmer option. I can't imagine having my girls graduating. Some days are exhausting and I want a break badly from them but overall I can't imagine them not needing me in the same way. Beat of luck and take Kleenex.

  24. My daughter graduates from college in June and I understand totally your mixed feelings. Here's to us! Love your dress.

  25. That dress is so pretty; love the colors and shape. You will look beautiful for her graduation in this :). I also love that you shared a pic of your own graduation! So neat.

Found you through A Pocketful of Polka Dots link up, by the way.

  26. I seriously love this dress. Good luck at graduation:)

  27. This dress is so pretty! I love the print and the colors. Perfect for spring and summer!

  28. You are so funny! This look is beautiful on you, so I am thinking you should wear dresses more often. :) Great color combination and print.
