Happy Valentine's Day, friends! Welcome to Wednesday and another edition of TBB Style. We hope you'll join us and link up your fashion posts below, and check back to see if you are featured!
Even though my husband doesn't "believe" in Valentine's Day, it's okay because every day should be all about love, right?
Last weekend I spent some time purging my sweater collection. I'm embarrassed to share how many sweaters I own. And since my hubby sometimes reads here, I don't want to give him a heart attack. Let's just say it's more than a lot, but less than a gazillion. Anything I hadn't worn yet this winter got the heave-ho, but this one's a keeper. I actually purchased it before Christmas from GAP but was waiting to wear it in February.
Today is also the first day of Lent. It comes early this year, with Easter falling on April 1st. My usual go to for Lent is to give up chocolate and try to be a nicer person - aka same old same old.
This year, in the spirit of trying new things, I purchased Above All, a Lenten devotional that includes daily scripture passages, essays, and room to journal. I'm excited to spend a little time each morning focusing on the reason for the season.
I've also decided to declare a shopping ban for the next forty days. It will be difficult, as all the pretty, sparkly spring things start appearing in stores. But it will be good for me to wear what I have in my closet, and I'll live vicariously through all of you!

Love your devotional and plans for Lent, Lana! If I hadn't been on a shopping freeze since January 1st, I might consider tag teaming with you and declaring a purchase freeze until April 1st, but I'm really needing some new spring tops and I'm reading to fill up my shopping bag! Happy Valentine's Day, Lovely Lady!!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be hard with all the pretty spring things in stores! I should have been on a shopping ban after Christmas but there were too many good sales!
DeleteWhat a great devotional, and thanks for the reminder on Lent. Like you I usually try to give up something, and as much as it may kill me, it may be tv use, candy or shopping.(lol) By the way that sweater is totally fab! Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteI should probably give up tv - I'm too addicted to reality shows!
DeleteWonderful devotional! So proud of you, you can do it! Sure do adore that LOVE sweater! You and Dee in your rainbows today....sweet! Happy Valentine’s Day beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you friend!
DeleteOhh! No shopping for 40 days! Good for you! I probably need to try this, too. And your Valentine's Day is super cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a LOOOONG 40 days. But I need to do it - my closet is bursting at the seams!
DeleteWhat? No shopping for 40 days?! I should probably do this too, but won't, haha. This is the first year that Baby Fox is giving up something, he's giving up candy, which is huge for him. Love that sweater, yes to it be a keeper and I LOL at the more than 1 less than a gazillion.
ReplyDeleteLove that Baby Fox is giving up something. Candy is a hard one!
DeleteCute sweater! I'm trying to not shop during Lent as well! That devotional sounds very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks friend!
DeleteI ordered Following the Way - it's a Lent Devotional and I was excited to read it this morning once I got back from church. I keep seeing myself with the ashes on my forehead and I have to remind myself it's not dirt! I am giving up desserts and sweet treats for Lent but I'm starting tomorrow since today is V-Day. Seriously I am already cheating! I thought about not shopping but maybe next year I feel like I've become addicted to sweet treats lately and I need to be more disciplined.
ReplyDeleteYour sweater is super cute. I only own a few sweaters, just too hot here!

I would love to live somewhere warmer, but I would definitely miss my sweaters! My ashes are always hidden by my bangs!
DeleteHappy Valentine’s Day. After reading your post about love early this week I have no problem with your Husband not “believing” in Valentines day, seems like everyday is about love for him. I purged my sweater collection also, I wanted to get send my old clothes to my newly made friends in Africa but its crazy expensive to send it :( . Good luck with giving up chocolate, that’s a good one, I think I’m going to give up coffee for lint, yep I just decided. I love your shopping ban, I know I could do that one, I haven’t been shopping since I lost my weight.
ReplyDeleteHe gets a pass on Valentine's Day from me too. I can't even imagine how expensive it would be to send something to Africa. I miss chocolate already!
DeleteI like how you kept your sweater count under wraps for your husband's sake! lol! I need to go on a shopping ban but the spring stuff is speaking to me! You go Lana!

It's going to be hard - the spring things are so pretty this year!
DeleteI'm normally on top of my Lent goal but am feeling uninspired right now...maybe a devotional is the goal. Also- I have seen your closet and can just imagine how many sweaters came out of it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better soon! I fit a lot of stuff in that little closet.
DeleteHappy valentines day dear friend!
ReplyDeletewe live in an asian country though yet my hubby still bring me one rose along with his loving smile and warm hug and that is all our valentine's day !
is this you in firs photo (i think my first visit) >
if yes i must say YOU LOOK GORGEOUS in your pretty sweater.
i smiled over your mention about the amount of you sweaters and that must not be revealed by your hubby !
i have only few seaters ,hardly five ,only one is knitted by my late dear mother
I'm so glad you stopped by today Baili! Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, that is me in the LOVE sweater. Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!
DeleteI "love" your sweater. My sweater collection is a little excessive, too. I am running out room to store them - hence time to purge some, as well. I am going to check out that devotional. I've committed to reading through the Bible in a year - so that is keeping me reading.

I was running out of room too - and not wearing half of what I have. I read the entire Bible years ago, but would like to do it again.
DeleteOh good for you - this will be a tough time to not be shopping as this is the time of year I want to shop the most, haha....trading in all the winter garb for spring brights. BUT the good thing about giving it up now is you'll be able to see what's out and what you actually need versus just shopping to shop and ending up with a ton of things that might not end up as favorites (not that I've ever done that, lol).

Black Coffee Beautiful
That's a really good point. I think I'll start a list of things I'm loving and then I can choose after Lent. We won't be wearing spring things until then anyway! Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Deleteglad you kept this one....super cute! I'm working on purging myself...blah...why does it have to be so hard to let go of things!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking - maybe I'll wear this someday! But I never do. It feels good to get rid of those things!
DeleteGood luck with your shopping ban! Living in the midwest I have quite a few sweaters myself. I don't even like wearing longsleeve tees because they aren't warm enough to me. I need my sweaters during the winter or I will freeze! Your LOVE sweater is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - always cold. Sometimes I wear a cardigan over another sweater and I still can't get warm!
DeleteOh man, you're in for a long 40 days! That's so cool, though. Your wallet will thank you, and ultimately, it might be fun to really appreciate what you see out there. I'm rooting for you!
ReplyDeleteYikes, it's sounding so long right now! But I have plenty of things in my closet I haven't even worn, so it's time!
DeleteLana your knitwear is lovely and thank you for hosting!
ReplyDeletePs I feel the same about Valentines day too
best

You are strong to give up shopping right now! I was digging through my sweaters the other day and was like, where did these all come from?!!
ReplyDeleteWell Hello LOVE-ly lady. Love this casual yet put-together look. Great graphic sweater!
ReplyDeleteWelcome by Thursdays and join my style linkup pretty lady. Come share your awesome style with me and my readers. =)
Thanks, Ada. =)
What a fun sweater! I like the rainbow colors. I got tickled about your husband reading and the number of sweaters you own. ;) I have to admit I have been guilty of not pulling out my sweaters very often this fall or winter. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with Fabulous Friday, Lana!
