Style Perspectives: Paris In Shorts

Happy Wednesday, friends!  Welcome to another edition of  TBB Style.    We hope you'll join us and link up your fashion posts below, and check back to see if you are featured!

Today it's all about the shorts, but honestly, they're still missing in action at my house.  We get an occasional warm day here and there, but for the most part it's too cold for bare legs.

In about a month, this is what you'll find me in most days:  a graphic tee, denim shorts, and sandals.  I'm in love with this Paris t shirt from JCrew Factory.  The fabric is a little thicker and holds its shape really well.

But can we talk about shorts?  I need some help today from my fashionista friends.  We've previously established that I'm tall, and my legs are fairly long.  WHY do the cute shorts, with all the pretty patterns and colors, only come in short lengths?  On a really good day I can get away with 5", but honestly, 6" or even 7" is better for me.  I'm loving all the patterned shorts, but they're so SHORT.  And when you get to longer lengths, they look like something my grandma would have worn.  Has anybody seen longer patterned shorts?

While I'm asking for advice, how about leg/body makeup?   Varicose veins run in my family, and I've noticed that mine have gotten worse.  I already use self tanner, but a friend suggested leg makeup to cover the worst ones.   Any suggestions for a good brand?  And how do you apply it?  All over or just on the necessary areas?

Help, friends!

  1. I struggle with finding longer ones in cute colors as well. I have great length jean shorts longer but not cute ones. You look darling, love the Paris tee!

  3. I've been lucky to find colorful shorts that are longer at Kohl's, and a few were actually on sale which I loved. I'm only 5 feet, and wish I had your gorgeous legs! Hugs...RO

  4. I haven't used leg makeup yet, but I have some areas that probably need it. Although I'm struggling with that concept. I want to love my legs as is....no matter what the changes. But I may consider a tattoo to cover the spots also??? Wouldn't that be a kick??
As for your issue with the length of shorts--I can't even imagine...ha ha!! But knowing my mom, she would just sew in some other material at the bottom to make them longer!!

  5. Hmmm, never heard of leg make up, keep me posted on that one. ;) Sorry I can't help in the long short department. I have the complete opposite problem, if I don't get 3.5" shorts it looks like my legs are swimmming in fabric, and looks horrible on me! But to get 3.5" shorts that aren't low rise...sometimes can be difficult, cause most people wearing those short shorts and teenagers, LOL!

  6. Your Paris tee is so Cute! I have heard good things about Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs, but I haven't tried it myself... yet. You have beautiful long and lean legs. I say embrace the shorter lengths and show them off! All the important bits are covered, so why not?! ;)

  7. I'm short, but I'm old and I just don't want to show that much thigh! I wish the fashion world would read this blog post and the comments! :)

  8. Lana, my legs look like a road map! If it wasn't for my self tanner I'd wear pants every single day. Try Sally Hansen airbrush legs, it is waterproof and goof proof. I use Jergen's Instant Sun as self tanner a few days a week. I think you need to rock the 5" shorts my friend!!!

  9. Yeah, I feel like shorts that are a NORMAL length are always so frumpy... and, it's not like 6-7" is super short by any means! Not sure why they can't fix this problem!! I can't believe it is still too cold there for shorts. It is so hot and humid here, I could cut the air with a knife!

  10. Happy Wednesday Lana :) I’m about shorts right now. It’s been so hot lately and I’ve been enjoying showing my legs this year. I’m all about graphic tees and denim shorts, easy to dress up or dress down. Your Paris Shirt is adorable. Its very hard to find good shorts, I have a big butt and a small waist so unless I want my short super tight they will never fit correctly. Oh well. shorts are crazy short now a days. Like crazy short.

  11. If you find out what leg make up - please share - I have the same problem! And, I am no help with shorts - I either go for the short ones (lucky for me my legs are short, I guess) - or the long denim shorts. I am with you that the in-between are not easy to find.

  12. I totally have veiny legs! I look awful in shorts. I have long legs and a high waist and since I've had kids, my hips are wider, but I'm slim. Nothing looks good!

  13. How did I not realize you were tall? LOL It's so hard to tell in pics. I am not tall. 5'3" and I still can't wear the short shorts. I just don't have the legs for it, so I feel your pain just in a different way. Good luck with the hunt!
