Happy Wednesday and welcome to Fall Fashion Frenzy with The Blended Blog. Today we're talking about fall kimonos, one of my new favorite ways to layer.
Admission time - a few years ago I bought a kimono on a whim, and never really liked it. Which meant I didn't wear it - even one time - and eventually it went to the thrift store.
Then this one arrived in a Stitch Fix box, and I liked the colors so much, I decided to give kimonos another try.
It really is the perfect fall layering piece! As Stacy London writes in her book "The Truth About Style", "if you layer with thinner fabrics, you can create visually interesting outfits without the bulk. Details like sheer fabrics are provocative and feel powerful without being outright obvious".
I've also layered this kimono with a dress and as a top piece over a jumpsuit. Pretty soon it will be too cold for the sheer fabric, but for now, it's just right!

And now it's time to link up! I hope you'll join us again this week, and follow along with #theblendedblogstyle.
I love the photos - and that kimono on you!

Thank you!
DeleteGORGEOUS! How fun you and Dee had a professional photographer to get some amazing photos! Truly beautiful and such great colors for Fall!
ReplyDeleteWe had so much fun!
DeleteI do think there are kimonos that work better for each person just like anything else. I've given away a couple too...they were overpowering for me. But I have a couple that I just love!!

You're right Jodie - the one I had before just wasn't right for me!
DeleteThis looks gorgeous on you Lana! Funny I was sent my first kimono from Stitch Fix a couple years ago and hated it! Never thought I would wear one! Now I have quite a few in my closet! Lol!
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the few things I've gotten from Stitch Fix and liked!
DeleteYour photography is killing it lately! Of course, you know your fashion is too. Those colors look SO good with your hair! I've never had a kimono but I don't think I'd rock it like you do.
ReplyDeleteI disagree - I think you'd look amazing in a kimono!
DeleteSeeing all these Kimonos is making me want one. Yours is so pretty and perfect for Fall!

DeleteLana I am so glad you gave kimonos another try! This one is pretty on you - the colors are perfect with your blonde hair. Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of toads until you find your prince, I'd say this kimono is your prince!

I love how much you have learned from that book. Good tip on layers with lighter pieces to give it some interest.
