TBB Style: Summer To Fall
Happy Wednesday, friends! TBB Style is back for fall and I'm glad you've joined us. Be sure to link up your fashion posts below so I can see what everyone's wearing!
This week we're talking about summer to fall transitions, and the timing couldn't be better. It's down right chilly here in the mornings, but by noon temps are heating up again. Perfect weather for dresses and booties and a denim jacket to start the day. I've had this one for years, and in hindsight, I'd probably choose something a little darker. I found this t shirt dress at my favorite grocery store (they also sell clothes which is a dangerous thing), and I love the color. Put it all together and I'm ready for an early fall day - as long as it doesn't rain. Then I'll be back in jeans before you can say...jeans?
Last month a friend gifted me Stacy London's book, The Truth About Style. I'm excited to read it, because What Not To Wear is one of my favorite shows of all time. I loved how Stacy and Clinton helped people with their wardrobe woes while still being kind. It was really all about self esteem and making each woman feel beautiful. I secretly hoped that someone would nominate me for the show, partly for the $5,000 shopping spree, but also because I think it would have been a life changing experience. Apparently my husband never got the memo, because I'm still here, probably wearing what not to wear!
Anyway...I'm only a few pages in and already it's wonderful. The premise is that your personal style should follow the "Yes!...And?" rule, where the "yes" part is an unbiased acceptance of who you are. Right here, right now - not after you lose ten pounds or acquire a bigger budget. "And" is coming up with a strategy to emphasize what you love about yourself, and de-emphasizing the rest. Stacy feels that we all put obstacles in our path towards personal style, and once we understand what they are, we can move on to better self esteem. "Style can change your look, certainly, but it can also change your life". Love it, and I can't wait to read more and share what I learn.
Linking up with The Pleated Poppy, Thursday Fashion Files, Fashion Friday, Fabulous Friday, Pumps and Pushups, How I Style It, Not Dead Yet Style, My Refined Style, Thursday Moda, I do Declaire, Ageless Style, Wednesday's Wardrobe , Get Your Pretty On, Shelbee On The Edge
And now it's time to link up! I hope you'll join us again this week, and follow along with #theblendedblogstyle. Next Wednesday we'll be back with "Calling All Camo".

Such a good show - I wish they'd bring it back!
DeleteI always wanted to be on What Not to Wear, too! Although I don't know if my style was ever bad enough to qualify.
ReplyDeleteMine probably wasn't either, but it would have been so much fun!
DeleteLove your dress! And I need to check out that book! I loved watching What Not To Wear! Stacy London is the best!
ReplyDeleteI love her attitude towards fashion!
DeleteI am a HUGE Stacy London fan, I must get her book! I loved WNTW and used to pray someone would nominate me, lol. I feel the same way about Ambush makeover on Kathi Lee and Hoda!!!
ReplyDeleteA dress with booties looks great on you with those supermodel legs of yours!! Smokin' hot Lana!

Kellyann
Ha - you're so kind. Not sure they're quite supermodel worthy!
DeleteAs always, I'm jealous of your cooler temps! Weren't you just at the beach a few weeks ago? I'd give anything to wear a jacket over a blouse or dress. Fingers crossed it will be soon enough!
ReplyDeleteYes, we were at the beach about a month ago. Our temps turn cool real quick here! You should come visit!
DeleteThat book sounds amazing! I think I might need to pick up a copy too!
ReplyDeleteIt's really good so far!
DeleteI loved that show! There was a time when TLC was all I eat watched. Say yes to the dress was my other fave!
ReplyDeleteI love adding a jean jacket to all fall outfits! Or any outfit for that matter.
I used to watch A Baby Story religiously. I loved it!
DeleteI need to read that book- I loved her on that show. Also, great outfit.
ReplyDeleteMerci!
DeleteHey! What not to wear started in the UK - have you seen the English version with Trinny and Suzannah? It is kind of cringy brutal but good, they are constantly hoiking women's boobs and getting them new bras - it was very un-English at the time but funny! Joanne x
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that - I would love to see it!
DeleteThis sounds like a great book to read. I'll have to go find it at the library!

Really good so far!
DeleteI like the "yes, and" rule. I live by it! This transition is an odd one but I'm super psyched to wear jean jackets over dresses - which is literally my favorite outfit on earth.
ReplyDeleteI kind of love this rule too! Denim jackets are pretty much perfect with any outfit.
