Swimsuit Season Is Here

Let's get the bad news out of the way first.  Swimsuit season is upon us.

Well, not "us" us - I live in Seattle, so we've got at least another month until the suits come out of hibernation.  But for the rest of the country, it's time.

The good news is, there's no reason to panic.  Apparently, one pieces are in fashion again. Good to know - not that it really matters what's in style.  You won't find a bikini on this over-40 mama.  You're welcome. :)  There will also be no pictures of me in a swimsuit today.  You're welcome again.

Swimwear has to be comfortable, cover up the important parts (this includes my stomach), and affordable.  I won't spend hundreds of dollars on a suit, no matter how good the quality.  I change my mind too much!

My go to bottoms the last few years have been the Fun In The Sun Swim Short from Athleta. These shorts fit perfectly and stay put whether you're playing in the ocean or swimming at the pool.  They have an attached panty, really cute pockets in the back, and come in ten fun colors.
I prefer a halter style on top, because you can tighten the neck to keep things where they're supposed to be.  The Shirrendipity Halter Tankini, also from Athleta, has a built in shelf bra and comes in tall sizes if you'd like more coverage.

This pretty tankini from Kohl's has a tummy slimmer and drawstrings on the sides.

No visit to the pool would be complete without a sun hat and beach bag. This Rhinestone Beach Hat and Dip-Dye Canvas Tote would be perfect.  I'm ready for summer - if it would just get here already!

Also, don't forget - it's time to sign up for the Summer Style Me Pretty Challenge.  The shopping list will be released this Friday, and I'm so excited to see what Alison has chosen for us.  Join us - you'll have so much fun!

  1. These are really cute picks! I usually buy tankini's but this year I want a one piece. I have been putting it off because the last thing I like to do is try on suits!

  8. I haven't had to buy a suit in years...I just don't do the beach any more. Not since suntanning became almost illegal.
