My New Happy: Thursday Randomness

Thursday Randomness

It's been one of those uninspired days.  When I sat down to write this post, nothing came out. I thought and thought, but my mind started to wander, and pretty soon I was "random googling".  You know, when you look something up, which leads you somewhere else, and pretty soon it's been an hour and you have no idea how you got there?

Anyway.

Somehow I ended up on the New York Times website, reading an article about The 36 Questions Which Lead To Love, which references a study that explores whether two strangers can accelerate their intimacy by asking each other a specific set of questions.  I have no idea how the study turned out, because I didn't read that far. I thought some of the questions were really interesting, and very random, as are my answers.

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

I had to pick two - Dave Grohl (former drummer for Nirvana and founder of the Foo Fighters).  He's super smart and interesting, and knows everything about the music industry. And the Dalai Lama.  I could learn so much about peace and spirituality from him.  On a side note, I wonder how these two would get along if I invited them to the same dinner party?

Would you like to be famous?  In what way?

Definitely not in a "celebrity" way.  Kim Kardashian's public life seems more like a nightmare to me.  If I could be famous for curing cancer or fostering world peace, that would be great. I would, however, like to enjoy the "rich" part of "rich and famous".

When did you last sing to yourself?  To someone else?

I am a rock star in my car, so that would be today while I ran errands.  I very rarely sing to anyone else though, because no one wants to hear that.  Trust me.

If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30 year old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?

It was very tempting to answer the body.  However, I was very pregnant when I turned 30 years old, so I'll say the mind.  If I'm going to live to be 90, I want to be able to read and have meaningful conversations with the people around me.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

I want to play a musical instrument - preferably the piano.  Creating and sharing music is a great gift.  And maybe I'll be able to sing too.

Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?

If I follow the family genetics, I will live well into my nineties.  Grandma Nelda just turned 96, and Grandpa Ed is 97.  I've never really thought about how I will die, but I pray that that there will be peacefulness and quiet.  And hopefully someone will be there, holding my hand.

If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?

I wish my mom had more time to spend with me, playing and laughing.  She was so busy working and compensating for my dad's lack of interest, that she rarely had the chance to experience the fun of enjoying her kids.

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

That I get to wake up every morning and walk through my days with the three most amazing people.  I honestly don't need anything else.

  6. Loved reading this. Amen to the famous part. Yeah I would never want every single second and every single detail of my life like the Kardashian family exposed. And in this case I can firmly say NEVER. And we are the same in that last question. I feel grateful to be alive and have my family every day. =)

Enjoy the rest of this Summer, Lana!

  7. I love how you turned having nothing to write about into such a great post! The mind or body of a 30 year old question really made me pause and think. I absolutely want to keep my cognitive abilities - I wouldn't need a 30 year old body at 90, but I would still be quite healthy and agile!

    1. That was the toughest question for me too Susan. It would be terrible to have a sharp mind but a body that wouldn't work.

  9. I love those questions! I answered them over a few Ask Away Fridays and it was intense.
I think Dave Grohl and the Dalai Lama should come on the same day! So great.
