My Irresistible Hair

I have a love/hate relationship with my hair.  And if I'm being honest, the hate side rules most days.  I would chop it to shoulder length, but my husband likes it long, so I'm humoring him.  He has been warned that he's only getting a few more years before it goes under the knife.

As a little girl, I had long, wavy, blond-ish hair.  Similar to today, except back then it was my natural color.  Apparently my mom was better at styling it than I am, because it looked pretty cute, uneven bangs and all.

Then the teen years hit, and this happened.  Gah...I don't know what we were thinking in the 80's.

Present day.  Clearly not my natural color, but at least the curls have relaxed into a nice wave again.  Most days I just blow it dry and leave it at that.  I'm extremely hair challenged, and things like buns, pony tails and braids elude me. I blame it on the fact that I don't have a daughter to practice on.

When I was contacted by Irresistible Me to try one of their products, I first looked at the hair extensions.  Their high quality clip in hair extensions are made from human Remy hair, and come in a variety of colors and lengths. Ultimately, I decided they weren't for me. (Reference "hair challenged" above - I'm sure I would have made a mess of them).

Instead, I was intrigued by the Sapphire 8 in 1 Complete Curling Wand.  The wand comes with eight interchangeable barrels to create many different kinds of curls, from ringlets to finger waves.  I found the wand very easy to use, and in only fifteen minutes, my hair looked much fuller and wavier.

Not bad for the first try, and I'm sure I'll get better as I get used to the wand. It heated up quickly, was light weight, and easy to handle.  As for storage, each barrel has it's own pocket in the bag, which rolls up into a nice compact size.

Irresistible Me also carries wigs and hair accessories.  Their customer service is outstanding, and they have a generous return/exchange policy.

For now, I guess I'll keep my long hair.  Maybe I'll have more "love" days with my new curling wand.

*In the spirit of full disclosure, I was provided the Sapphire 8 in 1 Complete Curling Wand in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.*

  4. I would love to have some curl in my hair that is naturally bone straight.

The waves look wonderful on you.

I have their extensions but will admit that I'm not terribly good at putting them in myself because my hair is so fine and so thin. I often get my stylist to do it for me for $10.

I am also terribly hair challenged.

    1. You looked so lovely with your hair extensions, which is one of the reasons I considered them. But then I realized I would just make a big mess with them!

  11. One more thing, well several in this post alone that we have in common. I have long hair because of my husband as well! If they had to deal with it they would understand what a pain in the butt it really is! I can manage a shitty looking ponytail and that is about it and I have to have my bangs! I've got a forehead like on old Chevy's hood! I love that styling wand. I just bought one (just a boring old regular one) to try to learn how to fix it here and there.

    1. Haha - what is it with guys and long hair? And they have no idea what we go through to keep it looking nice.

  12. Love how the waves add volume, too. If you are "hair challenged" then I am "hair hopeless" because I cannot even use a curling iron. And my PC and I have the same battle over the length of my hair that you and your hubby have. If I could have pretty, long hair then there would be no discussion but my hair looks even thinner and scragglier the longer it tries to grow. Need to just buy some extensions so we can both be happy! Great post, my friend.

  14. I have love/hate with mine too. It's so thick and long and mainly a pain. Doesn't always listen to me! Plus it's got such a rich color that I know won't last because of gray hair. Sad.

  17. I might have to look into these. I have been hair challenged lately - I am tired of my style but don't know what I want to do. I have thought about extensions - but I am not sure they are for me.
