My New Happy: Whatever Is Lovely Part Four

Whatever Is Lovely Part Four

I just got back from a business trip, and I'm feeling all cattywampus this Friday, so I apologize in advance if I'm rambling a bit.  Linking up with Carrie to share some things that are lovely!

--I'm probably the last person you'd expect to find in Las Vegas.  I'm not much of a drinker, most nights you'll find me in bed by 10pm, and I'm the unluckiest gambler.  However, my husband and I were there this week for a Builder's Conference, and we had the best time!  I always enjoy walking around the hotels.  The architecture, grandeur, and attention to detail is spectacular.  Plus, while we did lots of looking, I didn't buy a single thing.  This was a pleasant surprise to G, as apparently he was unaware of my shopping ban.  Hmm... I think I forgot to tell him, just in case I changed my mind.

--One of my favorite blogs to read every day is Diane's On The Border.  She grew up on a ranch in Southern Alberta, and her stories are witty, heartwarming, and full of adventure. Every time I click over I come away with a smile on my face.

--It's Hollywood award season!  Actually, I could care less about the awards, but I love the fashion.  I thought the Golden Globe gowns were disappointing, except for this Gucci dress worn by Amber Heard.  Absolutely gorgeous! Although I felt it needed a belt.  Which most likely wouldn't work at all, and is the reason no one is knocking down my door to be a stylist. I'll stick to my day job.  But everyone better up their game for the Academy Awards.

--I came across this great article that gave me a new perspective on "positive mindsets". The author spent time in a small town in Northern Norway that experiences severe winter weather, and near darkness three months of the year.  She expected the residents to have a high rate of seasonal depression, but found just the opposite.  Their saying "there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing" and upbeat attitudes could be applied to any situation.

--So, the Seahawks lost last Sunday.  Which wasn't very lovely.  But as I've written before, this team is made up of a bunch of special people.  Leading the way is quarterback Russell Wilson, who by all accounts is an amazing human being, both on and off the field.  Every Tuesday he visits Seattle Children's Hospital and spends hours with the kids there, who are beyond excited to meet him. Every. single. Tuesday.  You can follow him on Instagram and see the big smiles he shares.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.  And if you live on the East Coast, stay safe and warm.

  3. East coast here but the snowstorm is missing us!
I love award ceremony season because it means winter is winding down, and it's just nice to snuggle up and watch.
Also, my brother used to live in Vegas and I love visiting.

  9. I have only been to Vegas once and it was when I turned 21. I am not really much of a gambler either, but I did think it was funny that they had casino machines right in the airport when you got off the plane! I enjoyed walking around and exploring the different (massive!) hotels, too.

  10. So glad to read you had a glorious time in Vegas. Followed your adventures on Instagram and it looked great. So sorry about the Seahawks. They are our go to now that the CFL is done for the year. I had no idea about Russell W and his visits. What a guy. Wow. I'll check him out. Hope your weekend is going well, Lana.

  11. I'm happy to hear you had a great time in Vegas...♡

I agree that attitudes come from within and not necessarily from your surroundings. I think it's wonderful when people are stronger than their circumstances... it shows us all that it's possible ♡ xox

  12. I saw a ridiculous low airfare to Vegas but passed although it is fun and glad you had some of it! A researcher in a study I was in was from Siberia. His attitude, similar to the Norwegians, is that being cold in this day and age with fabric and clothing available is just a bad clothing choice.

    1. Isn't that the truth! Usually when I'm cold it's because I'm trying to look fashionable instead of staying warm!

  13. I'm so glad you had a good time in Vegas! My hubby and I are like you - we don't gamble and go to bed early, but we live here, so go figure. I had to click over and check out the article about Norwegians, since I'm one. Everything in life is about your outlook on it, isn't it? I would sure love to see the Aurora Borealis someday.

  14. There is just something about Vegas. Even for us light weight drinkers and gamblers. Love the Venetian.
