Motivational Monday LII

One of my husband's best friends is a special forces Army Ranger.  He recently retired from active duty, but during his years he served four tours in Afghanistan, and countless other missions around the world.

Every time M's wife called to tell us that he was off on another assignment, my husband started worrying.  I can't imagine how his wife, his children, and his parents felt.  I can't imagine how he felt.

I'm so thankful there are men and women like M, willing to put their lives on the line every single day so that mine can be better.  For those who have lost their life in that same pursuit, I'm forever grateful.

Today, during BBQ's, campfires, and family time, I will take a moment to remember the brave soldiers - past, present, and future - who sacrifice themselves to ensure freedom for the rest of us.  They have done something bigger than themself, but the best I can do is say thank you.

  1. It is a huge sacrifice! I just found out today that one of the teachers at the kids school has a husband who is in the navy and has to serve for a year in Texas (6 hours away from here!). I can't imagine if Brian were to be in another state for a YEAR!

  5. I feel the same. We did two parades this weekend, and two local ceremonies, because I wanted to reflect a lot about what this weekend means.
Thank you to all who serve/have served.
