My New Happy: May In Numbers

May In Numbers

I say it every month, but May sure did fly by.  I've given up on making time slow down, and I'm doing my best to enjoy the moments.  Linking up with Deena, to share some of them today, in numbers.

It's day 85 of Invisalign, and it seems to be getting harder instead of easier. My orthodontist is super conservative with my treatment plan, so I'm just starting to see and feel the changes.  Next month I plan to write a post about all the pros and cons so far, and hopefully have a progress picture.

6,942 strawberries consumed.  Strawberries are my hometown's jam (see what I did there?).  We even have a strawberry festival every June.  This year the berries ripened early, due to the warm and sunny weather, and I've been picking up a flat every other day because they're so delicious!  Nothing like a just picked strawberry.

1 birthday - mine!  I turned 49, which I'm pretty sure is a big mistake.  I swear I'm only 25. The boys got me a Fitbit.  Which reminds me - I still need 1,000 steps to hit my goal for today.  Be right back...

Speaking of the boys, I had 2 lunch dates with this guy in May.  I haven't talked about him much lately, because he's been so busy and I hardly see him.  He graduated early from his tech program, got a big promotion at work, and is the youngest Master ASE Certified Technician that his dealership has ever had.  Now he's working on his Bachelor's Degree and still pursuing Ferrari.  We could not be prouder of him.

So much going on with this kid.  6 years ago we watched him run in his first track meet, and last week we were there for his last.  He's grown about 10 inches and matured into an amazing young man who recently received the Scholar Athlete of the Year award for our school district. The big number for June will be:  how many tissues will I go through at graduation?

My mom finally sold her house in Arizona, so now it's time to find a new one close to me.  I love my mother, but she is veeeeeerrrryyyy picky.  It feels like we've looked at 527 houses already, and none of them will do.  I want her to be happy, but can't she be happy in one of those 527 houses?  Several of them were quite lovely.  Sigh.

3 books read!  I'm making up for last month.  Each of these is perfect for summer: light hearted, fun, and guaranteed to make you smile (or in the case of the Jenny Lawson book, laugh out loud).

When I wasn't reading, I was working in the yard, pulling a million weeds.   Why do they grow so fast?  After the hardy little buggers were extinguished, I planted 30 wave petunias. Some years they wave, and some years they don't, and I've never been able to figure out why. Hopefully it's a wave year.

That's a wrap on May.  June is a BIG month - full of parties, graduation, and a long planned vacation.  Better go stock up on Kleenex.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  11. Busy girl! First of all, your picture of the strawberries with that aqua around them is so well done. Love the colors. Glad your mom's house has sold. Maybe knowing that, she can relax some now and look more earnestly at a new home. It may have just been hard to balance both at the same time. Hope this transition is easy for her and you.

  13. We've been going through strawberries like crazy as well. There is a farmer's market to close to our house and we can't seem to drive by it without stopping. Glad things are going so well for the boys and I know you will get through graduation just fine.
