Motivational Monday LVIII

I've always loved fall, because it feels like a fresh beginning.  Even better than the new year, almost.  The slow beat of summer is over, and things start to come into focus again.  Days seem sharper, crisper, full of possibility.

I'm gradually coming around to feeling that way about my life.  The past few years I've spent dreading the future, worrying about what it would bring, fearing I couldn't bear the inevitable direction I was headed.

Many days still bring a heavy sadness, and a wish that things could go back to the way they were.  But there's always a way to make the day better.  A way to make life better.  To rejoice in life for it's own sake.

One of the best ways to make a day brighter is to be grateful.  I'm often guilty of forgetting all of the many blessings that surround me.

Luckily, my friend Shaunacey reminds me every week, so today I'm linking up with her for Monday Moments of Gratitude.  Head over to check out her lovely blog - her smiling face and adorable kiddos always make me happy.

This week, I'm grateful for...

--A surprise visit from T.  He caught a ride with a friend, and walked in the door at 11:30 on Friday night.  It's been two months since both boys were home at the same time, and it made my mama heart so happy to see those bedroom doors closed on Saturday morning.

--Our darling puppy finally figuring out where he's supposed to go to the bathroom.  Which is NOT on the kitchen floor.  I swear, I was getting worried that this dog was never going to get it.  Although, none of the boys in my life have been easy to potty train, so...

Happy Monday, and Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!
