My New Happy: Mindful Monday

Mindful Monday

I've been writing Motivational Monday for over a year.  But I realized recently that what motivates me these days is being mindful.

I want to be more aware and present in my everyday life.  I want to observe, taste, dream, feel, live.  I want to stop being so anxious and fearful of the future.  Last week, my friend Tamara (you should follow her - she's a brilliant writer) wrote, "living is the point of life no matter how you can get through it, whether you choose, or are chosen, to swim through, fly through, sail through, ride through, stay six feet (give or take) above, instead of six feet below".

Those words smacked me in the head like a brick.  Living is the point of life.  So simple and easy to forget, but so, so true.  I want to spend more time flying through life, and less time crawling with one eye looking behind.

It's been one year since my dad passed away unexpectedly.  Maybe that's what has me thinking about the changes I need to make.  The changes I want to make.  Or maybe I'm finally figuring out that life moves on, whether I want it to or not.

And I can decide how I want to live that movin' on life.  Starting today, it will be mindful.

  5. Love, love, love what Tamara said. It is true. And, life really does keep on moving. Sure, there may be some rough spots... but, getting through them by being optimistic and looking ahead is important. I try to find something in each day that I can do that gives me joy or happiness, even if its just picking up my favorite drink at Starbucks! Lol!

  6. Life does go on whether we want it to or not, but that's a good thing. As they say, "Time Heals All Wounds".

  10. Life is to be lived. The death of a parent can be reflective. My Dad died a happy man . He lived life and had fun. When my MIL died she was not a happy person, contstantly watching her weight, doing crosswords for her brain, drinking excessive water and taking lots of supplements because it was supposed to be good for her but not enjoying living in the present. I want to live like my Dad, LIVE!

    1. I completely agree. My Grandpa Ed is 98, and still lives like he's 30 years younger. I think his activity has kept him young!
