March In Numbers - The 2017 Version

Somehow I missed last month, and by the time I realized, it was already mid-March.  I would like time to slow down...but I would also like to skip straight to summer.  At this point, there's probably no pleasing me.  So let's just talk about March.

As always, I'll be linking up on Monday with my sassy Saskatchewan friend Deena for the Month In Numbers series. Head over to find out what she's been up to on the prairies.

This guy turned 22 this month.  22.  That's what happens to your kids when time won't slow down. He's funny and smart and kind and I couldn't be more proud of him.  And yes, he'd rather have pie instead of cake for his birthday. He did not get that from me.

I worked out 26 days this month, and ate healthy on most of them.  Lots of salads and protein for dinner around here, but no chocolate.  I miss chocolate.

1 mammogram checked off the to-do list, which is always a relief.  Except I'm turning 50 in a few weeks, so there's that other fun test I now have to look forward to.  Yay.

The mister and I went on 4 date nights, which hasn't happened since before children.  We tried a few new restaurants, and actually ventured downtown and saw the comedian Sebastian Maniscalco at the Moore Theater.

I put out my 12 Easter decorations.  I'd like to buy more, but then it's like Christmas part deux, with the hours of decorating and undecorating.  I had all the bunnies displayed in 30 minutes.

College kid was home for 10 days for Spring Break.  The weather was definitely not spring-y, but he enjoyed sleeping in his own bed and eating all our food.  Somehow I only got 1 picture the entire week.  And surprise, he was eating.

I saw 1 movie, read 2 books, and had lunch with 2 friends.  The rest of the time I was working, because it's our busy time.

And finally, I had the pleasure of attending Seattle Style Summit, a mini blog/social media conference, with over 100 other Seattle fashion and lifestyle bloggers.  There were 2 panels: collaborating with brands, and launching a second business from your blog. The speakers on both panels were excellent, but I learned the most about collaborations.  4 big brands were represented:  Neiman Marcus, Julep, Brooks Running and FitCode.  Their advice:  be authentic, do your homework, and be sure that you're engaging with your followers.  In many cases, the numbers don't matter. They also think that Twitter is dead, and Instagram is king.  I met 5 other 40+ bloggers, and we've got some exciting things in the works.

Speaking of fashion, I caved and went shopping.  The pretty spring things are too tempting. I showed restraint though, and only bought 1 jacket, 2 tops, and 1 pair of shoes.

And that's a wrap on March.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  3. I like the idea of pie instead of cake on Birthdays. He’s a handsome young man Lana you must be proud. You workout out 26 days this month! That’s an amazing accomplishment; I wonder how many days I worked out. Comedy Show date nights are so much fun; I even dated a comedian once, he was hilarious but used our experiences in his sets which was embarrassing. I loved coming home when I was in college, my Mom washed my clothes, I got to see my dog and my bed was never so soft. I have yet to go to blog summit, but I hope to attend one soon. I love my blogging friends.

  5. Busy busy! I have always favored pie over cake for birthdays but more like a Hershey pie! Today we have a giant cookie cake at our house and that might be my true favorite for sure.
Awesome about seeing your kids and friends and blogging conferences!

  7. Girl, you've got that decorating thing down and I love it! I remember when my 22 year old thought 30 was old, then he turned 34. (lol) You're so right! Where does time go? Meeting so many bloggers sound like a ton of fun! Hugs...
