June In Numbers

It's been forever since I did a month in numbers post, so I'll be linking up with Deena on Monday for her fun series. As usual, June flew by!

--The month started with dozens of blooming peonies!  We only have one bush (do peonies grow on a bush?  Hold on, let me go look that up.  Yep, it's called a peony bush), and they only bloom once a year.  But they are so delicate and pretty, and smell beautiful.

--George and I drove 300 miles to check out our new rental house in Pullman.  Thomas and roommates will be living there for the next six years.  Sadly, the previous owners absolutely trashed the place between the time we made the offer and closing.  Filthy, garbage everywhere, appliances broken.  People can be so disappointing.  But we'll get the bachelor pad all fixed up before school starts.

--One new grill.  We used our old one to death, literally.  And since we couldn't decide what we wanted next, there hadn't been any BBQ at our house for months.  In the end we bought almost the exact same one!  Sigh.

--22 workouts done.  Have you tried Fitness Blender?  They add new HIIT workouts every week, and most of them are 30-40 minutes.

--Thomas has been on his study abroad for almost 14 days.  He's been to 3 countries (Norway, Denmark and Sweden) and has learned everything there is to know about Viking history.  I have to admit, this trip has been one of my hardest parenting challenges yet. Trusting that he could travel to foreign lands by himself - I mean, he's still a baby in my head.  But he's having an amazing experience and will come back on Sunday all grown up, I'm sure. Please note that he is the only boy student on this trip - the professor travelling with them is the only other male!

--Only 9 posts on le blog.  I have been a complete blog slacker for reasons unknown.  I even missed the monthly book review for The Blended Blog.  I'll try to do better next month.

--Lots of miles of hiking. The weather has been perfect to get out and enjoy the beauty of Washington.

  1. What a shame that your rental was trashed! People can be really disappointing sometimes! It sounds like you son is having an amazing trip abroad! Those peonies are gorgeous! Have a great weekend!

  2. That is too bad about the rental - how people do that and live with themselves - I don't understand. Too funny that Thomas is the only boy on the trip other than the professor - I can't believe 3 weeks have already passed - I'm sure you will be happy to have him home.

  3. How crappy about the rental.

Thomas has some pretty good odds there. Ha ha! Okay, pretend I didn't say that.

Travelling is truly the best education anyone could have. You learn at a much faster rate than in the classroom.

  4. Haha! I had to laugh when I saw he was the only boy on the trip! I hope he is enjoying Europe! I want to go back next year, not sure if we can swing it yet. I am sorry about the rental! I love workouts that are shorter, since I like to work out before everyone else is up!

  5. That's awful about the trashed house. I don't know if I could handle one of my boys traveling abroad. I'm having issues with mine living just an hour plane ride away...

  6. I just love me some Deena :) Those peonies are beautiful. I bet they smell wonderful. I’m a huge fan of Fitness Blender, I’ve done a few of their HIIT workouts. So happy to hear Thomas is doing well. He’s learning so much and traveling at that age is always excited and enlightening.

  9. When we moved into our house the previous owners didn't clean. It was so upsetting that they didn't care enough about the house to leave it presentable to its new owners. They apologized with a GC but they should have just cleaned the house!
