TBB Asks: Holiday Edition

I've been a blogging slacker lately, and I just couldn't get my act together last week.  But I definitely didn't want to miss out today for The Blended Blog's Holiday Themed Q&A.  Hope you'll join us by linking up below or on Instagram @tbblog.

Last year the holiday season was a bit ho hum for me.  I was missing Thomas and couldn't get into the Christmas spirit.  This year I'm feeling it again and so excited for the month ahead.  On to the questions!

One / For years we made of day of visiting the tree farm and picking out the perfect evergreen for our home.  And then we realized that my husband's allergies combined with the fresh tree was making him sick.  Enter the fake tree!  We actually have two and I've grown to love them.  They can stay up so much longer, and there are no needles to clean up.

Two / A good old fashioned frosted sugar cookie, preferably snowman shaped.  I hope you'll visit me on The Blended Blog tomorrow where I'll be sharing some delicious recipes in honor on National Cookie Day.

Three / Before we had kids, we always traveled to my parent's house for brunch and present opening.  When the boys came along, we hated to pull them away from Santa's toys, so the festivities switched to our house.

Four / Both.  Clear for the Lenox tree, and colored for the second tree in the family room.  The outside lights are a combo.

Five / Yep.  One of my favorite things about Christmas is getting cards from friends and family, so I figure they're happy to get mine too - probably?

Six / That's a tough one.  Anything my husband has given me.  He's the best present giver - always so thoughtful and perfect.  I, on the other hand, am terrible at this task, but he loves me anyway.  And I do try.

Seven / A trip for the boys to Disney World.  They were so excited!

Eight / My mom cross stitched a stocking for me when I was a little girl, and then ones for the boys years later.  My husband felt left out, so guess what he got for Christmas?

Nine / Nope.  And that ship has probably sailed.

Ten / Traditionally, "Do You Hear What I Hear?"  More recently, anything from the Elf soundtrack.

Eleven / Reading the nativity story with the boys, and then moving baby Jesus to the creche in our nativity stable.  They've gotten too old for this tradition, but hopefully I can do it with grandkids someday.

Twelve / Well, see number six above.  I have this fantasy every January that I will purchase lovely, thoughtful gifts throughout the year, and have everything done and wrapped by December 1st.  I'm 50 and it hasn't happened yet, so... I'm usually scrambling at the last minute.  This past weekend my husband and I stayed in a hotel near the best mall in our area, and got a lot done.  And there's still three weeks until Christmas...

The view from our window.  Do you spy Nordstrom?
Thirteen / It's not totally a Christmas movie, but one of my favorites is "Meet Me In St. Louis" with Judy Garland.  Also Elf, Charlie Brown Christmas, and Shrek The Halls.  "Christmas ain't Christmas til somebody cries" - Donkey.

Fourteen / Hot apple cider.

Fifteen / Of course!  And a note for Santa, and carrots for the reindeer.

The Blended Blog thanks you from the bottom of our writing hearts for all the love and support you've given TBB Asks this year.  It's grown into one of our most popular features, and hopefully we'll be back in 2018 with even more questions!

  6. Oh my gosh! I love Meet Me in St. Louis but most people haven't heard of it. In fact, I listed Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas from the movie as my favorite Christmas song today.

  8. Those stockings! WOW! Love it!! We have never tried a real tree, but the kids and I have allergies and asthma and I am afraid to even try. Staying by a mall is a great idea and way to get a lot of shopping done before Christmas. I am way behind on shopping!

  9. I love that you guys did this. I actually did the post myself and answered your questions. It was so much fun. I will also show my Christmas Home Tour tomorrow on the blog Lana, so you should stop by and join my linkup too.

I loved reading your answers and getting to know you. Actually we have some things in common and I laughed at the last question because our answers were identical. You can read them below:

  10. As a former cross stitcher I appreciate how much effort went into those stockings. I went through a phase where I made cross stitched gift for my Mom and MIL and they both still have them on the wall. My SIL cross stitched an 11x14 for each of my kids and now that they have outgrown having them in their rooms I proudly display them in my 'castle' tv room. Too much work goes into them to have them tucked away in the storage room. They look great on your mantle ;)
