My New Happy: Being Forever Fierce

Being Forever Fierce

What does it mean to be Fierce at Midlife?

I've thought about this question a lot in the past year, as I enter my 50's and transition from full time motherhood to whatever it is the future holds.  I don't have all the answers yet, but I'm getting there.

One thing I do know?  I didn't get here by accident.  My challenges, victories, failures and triumphs have accumulated in a unique way.  I am me - with all my imperfections and wisdom and strengths and vulnerabilities.

Now it's time to gather it all together, go out into the world, and be fierce.  No sitting back and waiting for things to come my way.  The point of life, after all, is to live.  And living large, with kindness, gratitude, bravery and love sounds pretty forever fierce to me.

A year ago, The Fierce 50 campaign was launched to great success.   Soon after, it was rebranded Forever Fierce, and includes women of all ages who believe that midlife is a powerful, vibrant time.  Women from all around the world are coming together to support one another and change the perception of this time of life.

I was honored to be included in this spring's new campaign, to use my platform to showcase other women's voices and serve the Midlife community at large.  Today we are introducing a group of inspiring women.  They don't blog, but are Influencers on other forms of social media, and have a powerful message to share.

Michelle, Age 54, Riverside, CA

Fierce in midlife means being my true fierce self.  For years I've done what I was supposed to do.  I wore what I was supposed to wear and I followed everyone's rules.  Now it's my time.  I do what I want when I want to do it and I most definitely wear whatever I want to wear.  My Instagram page keeps me motivated to shop my closet and gives me a creative outlet - having fun with my clothes!  I hope my IG page inspires others to do the same.  I am doing what makes me happy!  Mid life is definitely the best life!

Lisa, Age 49, Amelia Island, FL

Being fierce at midlife means fiercely embracing those things that bring you true joy!  For me, at this point in my life, it's being true to who I am without apologies.  We are all so unique and we bring our very own style to the table!  I think when you have true enthusiasm, that is a true sign of God with 💗.  Being brave enough to share it is being Fierce at midlife!

Heidi, Age 48, Aurora, IL

Being fierce in midlife to me is all about realizing and embracing who you really are.  I feel like I'm not making excuses for the things about me that aren't perfect or what someone else expects.  I think that at the same time you start to give that same understanding to everyone around you, and that's a good place to be.

Please visit The Forever Fierce Campaign 2018 to read more about all the women featured in this year's campaign.  We invite you to join in our social media campaign by sharing your voice by answering "what does it mean to be Fierce...at any age?", and using the hashtags #ForeverFierce and #ForeverFierceDay.  You can also join the revolution at Forever Fierce on Facebook.  Thank you Michelle, Lisa, and Heidi for sharing your wisdom today.

Now go out and be FIERCE!

  4. Inspirational post, Lana. Thank you for sharing some of your story and struggles and for introducing us to your three fierce friends. I have been admiring Michelle's trendy, chic style on Instagram for awhile. Even mentioned to her that we have a very similar family surname...her's is Rosborough and mine is Rosebrough. Can't help but believe somehow, somewhere we are distant cousins! Hope her great fashion sense is a gene I can nurture and encourage in myself.

  7. Lana, I love the messages shared by your fierce featured women! Unapologetic is a theme that keeps appearing and I love it! We need not apologize for being our authentic selves. It is what we should have been doing all along! Yet, it takes us 30, 40 years to feel comfortable in our own skin, in our beliefs, in our unique compilation of quirks and passions. And here we are...fabulously alive at midlife with an amazing tribe of like minded women by our side...marching into the future more powerful than ever! Stay fierce, my friend.
