Hodgepodge A La Mode: Say Yes

Happy Friday, friends...so soon?  While I'm always ready for a little Friday in my life, college boy was home this week on spring break, and it went too fast.  The good news is there's only two months left until he's done with sophomore year and home for the summer!

I'm linking up today with From This Side Of The Pond for Hodgepodge A La Mode - a bunch of fun, random questions.

Best place you've been lately?  Well, boo.  I haven't been anywhere exciting.  Luckily, living here is a pretty great place to be.

What's something you should say yes to today?  Or this week?  Or even this year?  So here's the thing with yes.  For many, many years, I've been a "no" person.  And mostly I think it was justified.  When you're working and raising kids, you have to set limits on your yeses or you will go insane.  But now that the boys are no longer such a big part of my daily to do's, I've started saying yes to things.  Kind of without even thinking it through, which is not how I'm used to operating.  Suddenly, I'm finding myself with all sorts of new opportunities and collaborations, and it's exciting. Stay tuned...

Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form?  In Western cultures the color green is typically associated with jealousy, nature, good luck, and growth.  What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word 'green'?  On Saturday there will be a corned beef cooking in my crock pot!  Green is such a fresh color, and it makes me think of spring and summer.  When I was younger, we had to wear something green to school on St. Patty's Day or risk getting pinched.  Even now I like to follow that tradition, but I have a hard time finding much green in my closet.  I love this blouse from LiliGal, but I've never bought from them before.  Anyone?

What's a product or service you love so much you'd happily be their spokesperson?  Hmm...Loft is killing it with the spring florals right now.  So pretty.  I'd be very happy to wear all the Loft clothes they wanted to give me.  I'm also somewhat addicted to Jenny Cookies, and tell everyone who will listen how delicious they are.  However, must. stop. eating. Jenny. Cookies.  Not good for the waistline.

March 14th was Pi day.  How are your math skills?  What's the last thing you did that required math of any kind?  And most importantly, do you like pie? What's your favorite kind?  It's too bad that I don't like math, because I'm pretty good at it, and I have to do it every single day for my job.  Blecch.  I also don't like cooked fruit, and all the best pies have fruit in them, right?  I'd rather have a Jenny Cookie.

Insert your own random thought here.  On Monday I had my yearly mammogram, and scheduled a 3D kind.  I didn't notice any difference at the appointment, but the results were in my chart within two hours!  Sure beats the old days of waiting a week or two for a letter to arrive.  I'm so happy to have that over for another year.  Have you scheduled your mammogram?

Happy weekend!  What are your plans?

  1. Happy Weekend friend! Yay for having college boy home for SB! Seems like all the college kids were home for Spring Break this week. I agree to all those willing to listen, Jenny's Cookies are bomb dot com. Yes to green, I don't own much of it, might be in a leaf of a spring floral something or other...We are throwing my aunt a suprise party...getting it all together, there are a bazillion flowers at my house and I have NO idea how I am going to get them all to my aunts house plus everything else...hehe :)

  2. Yep, I had my first 3D mammo last week and another whew for the year. Jenny’s cookies are so cute! I’m doing the same Happy mom dance, one was home and spent lots of Mom time and will be home for 3 months around May 4th. The other went to Florida for break so I am disowning him because he wouldn’t send me pics. Lol. Love ya, soak up these last couple days!

  3. This is a pretty awesome place to live :) Especially when the weather is so nice. I'm commenting from Pike's Market this morning and it is the best start to the weekend. I'm running in the St. Patrick's 5k this weekend, so that will be fun. Other than that, I'm looking forward to some relaxing time in the sun. Thanks for sharing and engaging conversation! Have a great weekend!

  4. First---those cookes? How fun are they? And I'm assuming they taste as good as they look?
As for the corned beef, we already ate ours. I get so hungry for it when I start seeing it at the stores, that we can never wait until the actual day!!
And did you know that I blame you for my recent LOFT purchases? That 70% off sale was killer and I bought at least 8 things (I took a couple back, but really? I NEEDED nothing...ha ha)
Have a fabulous weekend, and glad you're saying yes....
    XOXO

  5. I’m so happy college boy is home for Spring Break! I know your excited. The best place I’ve been lately was Ghana, I really had a great time there. I don’t celebrate St. Patricks day often but I try to wear green as much as possible. OMG these cookies are AMAZING! Thank you for the Breast Cancer Awareness Instagram Post, it’s so important to get yearly mammograms.

  8. Those Jenny Cookies look so divine and different, and I need to check them out.My son is 34, but I remember being the no mom back in the day(lol) But I was also the designated driver for the night time activities, which was a good way to interact with him and his friends. I would definitely be the spokesperson for Bubly Water or La Croix Water. I drink that stuff like crazy! Happy Saturday and Hugs...RO

  9. I bet you can't wait for the summer with your boys! I always think after Spring break, it is ALMOST time for summer break! That cookie is so cute!! I had my first mammogram last August and I did the 3D kind... of course I got a call back the next day for an u/s, but everything was ok. Just have some cysts. Def. a pain, but SO important to take care of your health!!

    1. I think every woman I know gets called back after their first mammogram. Once they map everything out it gets better. Glad everything was ok!
