Makeup? Mascara? Help!

I'm linking up today with my Blended Blog friends to continue our month long beauty series.  Today it's all about the makeup, and I need help.

While I agree with Marilyn in theory, there does come a time when a little makeup is also needed.  For me, that time was about six years ago.  Up until I was 45, I very rarely wore makeup.  My parents were against it when I was growing up, and I never learned how to use it properly.  Then I got married, had kids, and was too busy to figure it out.

But now it's a necessity (hello fifty year old face), and I've found that makeup is fun!  The problem is, I still don't know what I'm doing.  Luckily there's YouTube and blogging friends who are makeup rock stars.

I'm slowly learning the basics, and I have a few favorite products.

Laura Geller bronzer/blush; Neutrogena tinted moisturizer; Eyelid primer
And of course, Lipsense.

Here's where I need help: mascara.  About a year ago I started using Lash Boost.  While my eyelashes have grown longer, they haven't gotten thicker.  I've spent a small fortune on mascara and still haven't found one that adds fullness without making me look like a spider monkey.

A small sample of my recent tries.
Suggestions?  What mascara do you love?  Please let me know in the comments!

Then head over to The Blended Blog to link up your posts and see what everyone else is sharing.  Be sure to come back next Monday for TBB Asks: Spring Edition.

  1. One of the things I really love about instagram are the makeup tutorials, and their recommendation of products, because like you, I'm clueless. (lol) I'm a mascara person though, and probably have about 12 of them in different colors. I also like to wear my lipstick a little too. Well, somtimes(lol) Hugs...RO

  6. I look at my makeup yearly and decide what is working, what is not. My fav mascara is Lancome. Because of hot flashes and eye rubbing I need the long wear waterproof kind.

  8. Mascara is my favorite. I have the product that makes you have thicker ones and I forgot what it’s called. But my friend is a long time make up artist and she swears by L’Oreal voluminous. That’s what I use!

  9. Wow Lana your makeup journey sounds like mine. I’m only 35 and I’m still pretty happy with my skin, but as I get older I can see me jumping on the makeup train. I watch a ton of makeup tutorials even thought I don’t wear it, they are interesting and I’m surprised and impressed to see the finished product. I love that you are asking for help, I’m sure someone has the mascara answers :) Have a great week my friend.

  12. I also have skimpy lashes. The best tip that I can give is to use mascara one coat at a time. Clean a brush from one of the mascaras that you don't like. Use it after each coat to spread the mascara along the lashes removing any clumps as you go. it's not as time consuming as it sounds because you do one coat-one eye-spread it out. Do the next eye, then go back to the first. I do two coats or three when I want to look extra nice.

  14. have you tried the Younique Epic mascara? I really love it (and sell competing products so that says something). I just ordered Limelight mascara because I've heard good things.
Dior Show (I think that's what it's called) is also a good one!

  15. Ugh, I ahve the same issues with mascara, but I do like the Better Than Sex one. Have you tried using lash primer? I've found that that helps a bit. I'm still learning too, which is why I haven't even attempted bronzers, highlighters, or contouring?! I think I'll just stick to the basics haha!

  17. Mascara: For additional rich looking eyelashes utilize an eyelash styler before applying your mascara. Get ready for those tears of bliss by utilizing a decent waterproof mascara. Apply two coats, let the main coat dry before applying the second coat.https://plasticspot.io/blog/tummy-tuck-costs/

  20. Makeup removal may be necessary on daily basis especially if you travel much, you are a sports person or you just don't like being covered in makeup all day. To save makeup storage space, purchase a package of pre-moistened cleaning clothes to help you with makeup removal. 남성중점치료병원
